10 Man Scotland Dealt Dismal Defeat In Munich

Scotland Crushed by Germany in Euro 2024 Opener

10-Man Scotland Dealt Dismal Defeat in Munich

WEB Scotland's Euro 2024 campaign got off to a disastrous start as they were hammered 5-1 by host nation Germany in Munich.

Steve Clarke's men were reduced to 10 men after just 30 minutes when Kieran Tierney was sent off for a second bookable offense. Germany took full advantage, scoring four goals in the first half to put the game beyond Scotland's reach.

Timo Werner opened the scoring for Germany in the 12th minute, before Ilkay Gundogan and Leroy Sane added further goals before the break. Kai Havertz made it 4-0 in the second half, before Scotland pulled one back through Ryan Christie. However, it was to be a mere consolation as Germany added a fifth through Leon Goretzka.

The defeat leaves Scotland facing an uphill battle to qualify from Group F. They will next face the Czech Republic on Tuesday, before taking on Croatia in their final group game.

Conclusion

Scotland's performance in Munich was a major disappointment, and they will need to improve significantly if they are to have any chance of progressing in the tournament. Germany, on the other hand, looked impressive and will be considered one of the favorites to win Euro 2024.
